Bookham Farm is a 650 acre Dorset farm that has been in the Foot family since the mid 1800’s, five generations. It is predominantly a Beef and Arable farm, with 4 luxury holiday cottages – Bookham Court.
In 2001 the redundant farm buildings at Bookham Farm were sympatheticaly converted into self catering holiday cottages with a games room and fishing lake. In 2004 the wildlife hide was created and bird/mammal boxes installed. These were followed in 2005 by the conversion of an old farmstead off Bookham Lane into Crowthorne Cottage.
Looking after the environment
Much of the farm is in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, with 6 metre margins left around the arable fields to encourage wildlife. Ponds and wet grassland have been created. Three acres of trees have been planted and hedges are allowed to grow up and trimmed to an A shape. Owl, Kestrel, small bird boxes and mammal boxes have been put up all around the farm to encourage more wildlife.
